Saturday night was erroneously published reports on Joe Paterno, here and elsewhere. It was deeply regrettable situation and who demands an explanation. As an editor in the service, it was my duty to find out what was published, and when, and that included updates on Paterno on health.
The first story was published under Andy Hutchins Byline, then, what he wrote in the background and basis of the post. News broke and began to rapidly expand, edit his post-point report on the initial source--and published it. His name was on it, but it was my own decision about publication of the report, which are available at the time.
Before you publish it, we're waiting for more reports from national outlets. The message spread to many trusted sources, our own decision on the publication of the contribution due to the storm. It was based on a custom report, but the reports of the other.
As we learned later, Paterno nor left and continues in the struggle for life. At the time, the spokesman of the family released a statement denying reports the word is already spread like wildfire, but various forms of social media and online, in various places, including here on SB nation.
Decision on the publication of the contribution was incorrectly. We were waiting for official word from the Paterno. With the speed with which the stories of the step and the decision must be made in the immediate, and the decision of what I did was wrong. There is no excuse for it, and I take full responsibility.
Most of all Penn State of the community and the Paterno family deserves an apology. Emotional rollercoaster Penn State fans, students and alumni have been taken unfair and we participated. Paterno family dealing with an incredibly difficult situation at the time, and Tornado activity and reports served only to piggyback its own crisis.
